RE-PLASTER

A re-coating of a plaster pool, usually 8 to 15 years after the original coating. The main concern is to achieve a proper bonding of the new plaster to the underlying surface. Originally, this was usually achieved by ACID WASHING the surface to roughen it sufficiently, to give a good bonding surface, in more recent trends, more plastering crews prefer to use chemical bonding agents, to achieve a better bond. After prep (including, usually, chipping away at the tile lines, fittings, and lights), the crew can smooth the surface into blending with the original pool without depressions that attract algae and have an un-pleasing appearance. A good re-plaster leaves the pool looking almost new, again.
